Inclusion Commitment

Tri2O Triathlon club and the Events Team are fully committed to hosting an event that is inclusive for all.

We know that, for example, the gender split for participation in triathlons in the UK is ~36% women, ~64% men. In 2024, Reading Triathlon finishers were 41% women and 59% men – and we are aiming for gender parity. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Women in Tri UK, whose mission is to break down barriers and bring more women to triathlon.

We are proud to be official Silver Event Partners of Fund Her Tri UK (Women in Tri UK)

We also firmly believe that our commitment to inclusion does not end with women; we want to support diversity across the board. We believe that starts with a Code of Conduct that goes above and beyond the basic competition rules, that highlights what is appropriate behaviour (or not), and our expectations of our participants, volunteers and spectators.

All those involved with the Reading Triathlon are expected to honour this Code of Conduct, and we are committed to taking seriously any incidents where behaviour falls short. You can, and should, contact our Race Director and/or Welfare Officer either on race day itself, or afterwards via events@tri2o.club or welfare@tri2o.club, if you wish to report any inappropriate or sub-standard behaviour.

Here are a few of the aspects of our race that we hope will encourage and enable more women of
all backgrounds to enter, as well as beginners and less confident athletes.

  • No cut-off times
  • Pregnancy deferral policy
  • Female & male toilets in transition
  • Gender specific private changing facilities both in transition and by the lake
  • Private comfortable area for breastfeeding where requested
  • Period products in all toilets
  • Option for “nervous swimmer” hat
  • Event Preparation morning available
  • Male and female fit T-shirts available to order as race merchandise

If you are considering entering the race, and have any concerns regarding ANY additional needs or disability that you might have, please just get in touch with us via the events email so we can work together to ensure nobody is excluded.
